Work out exactly what a stylist, beautician or barber is owed this month: salary or daily wage, absences, service and retail commission, target bonus, tips and advances.
Salonipy does this for every bill, every staff member and every day: billing, commission, stock and reports in one app. 7 days free, no card needed.
For worked examples and advice on choosing a rate, read the salon staff commission guide.
It varies by country and role. Many salons pay a lower commission on top of a fixed salary, and a higher commission when there is no salary. Retail product commission is usually lower than service commission. Whatever you choose, write it down and apply it the same way every month.
Before tax. Tax belongs to the government, not the salon, so commission is normally calculated on the amount excluding tax.
Divide the monthly salary by the number of working days to get a per-day rate, then deduct that rate for each unpaid absence and half of it for each half day.
Staff earn an extra percentage only on the sales above their monthly target. If the target is 150,000 and they sell 180,000 with a 5% bonus, the bonus is 5% of 30,000.
