8 Salon Membership & Package Ideas Clients Actually Buy
With a package, the client pays now and you deliver later. Priced properly, it is the most predictable income a salon can have. Priced badly, it becomes a pile of cheap appointments your team resents.
These eight packages work well in most salons, provided you follow three simple rules.
First, the three rules
- Discount by 10–20%, not 40%. The client is buying commitment, not a bargain.
- Set an expiry. Six sessions valid for four or six months. Open-ended packages become liabilities.
- Track every session. The fastest way to lose a client is an argument about whether they have two sessions left or three.
1. Facial or skin course
Six facials, one every three to four weeks, paid upfront. Skin results genuinely need repeat visits, so the package matches the treatment. Add a take-home product at session one.
2. Blow-dry club
Four or eight blow-dries a month for clients who come weekly anyway. Price it so each visit is slightly cheaper, and restrict it to your quieter weekdays to fill slow hours.
3. Men's grooming membership
A monthly fee covering one haircut and one beard trim, with a small discount on anything extra. Men's grooming is very routine, so a membership just formalises a habit that already exists.
4. Hair spa or treatment course
Five or eight hair spa sessions, especially popular before wedding and festival seasons. Pair with a recommended retail product.
5. Bridal package
Trial makeup, pre-bridal facials, mehndi or party makeup, and the bridal look itself, sold at one price with an advance. Track the advance and the balance carefully; bridal packages are paid over months.
6. Laser or waxing course
Treatments that need a fixed number of sessions for results are natural packages. Show the client the schedule upfront.
7. Prepaid wallet top-up
The client pays 10,000 and receives 11,000 of credit to spend on anything. Simpler than a package, flexible for the client, and it keeps them choosing your salon. Wallet balances also make excellent gifts.
8. Loyalty tiers
Not a package, but a companion to one. Clients earn points on spending and move through tiers (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum), unlocking small rewards. It gives regular clients a reason to stay without you discounting every visit.
How to price a package
| Package | Normal price | Package price | Discount |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 × facial at 4,000 | 24,000 | 20,400 | 15% |
| 8 × blow-dry at 1,500 | 12,000 | 10,200 | 15% |
| Wallet top-up | 10,000 paid | 11,000 credit | ~9% |
Before launching, check the package price still covers product cost and staff commission for every session. See backbar cost per service.
Mistakes to avoid
- Paying full commission on the undiscounted price.
- No expiry date.
- Tracking sessions on a paper card the client keeps.
- Selling packages you can't staff in peak season.
Track it automatically
Salonipy's memberships and packages track remaining sessions on each client's profile, hold prepaid wallet balances and run loyalty tiers and points, all linked to the same bills.
